Experiencing hunger very early in life can reduce a person’s ability to learn. Help us fight childhood hunger by supplying UCP campuses across Central Florida with nutritious food items that can be added to our take home bags for those in need.

We understand that many of our students rely on school meals to stay nourished. By providing take home food bags for the upcoming Thanksgiving and winter breaks, UCP children are given the opportunity to have healthy, filling meals during their time away from school; helping families make ends meet.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

Create a giving circle among friends, family & coworkers – design your own food drive! Use our Fall Wish List and start collecting or set a fundraising goal and invite your loved ones to join you.

The money raised will be used to purchase food to fill the bags.

  • Collect items to donate – Use our Fall Wish List and start collecting! These items were specifically chosen with our kids in mind! Items include:

  • Make a cash contribution – every dollar raised through this campaign will help supply food to more kids during the school year. Just click here and indicate “food pantry donation” in the special instructions section of the form.

  • Let us know you’re in! Send a quick email to development to let us know you would like to host a collection, so we can be prepared to accept your donations.

WHAT IS FOOD INSECURITY

Food insecurity refers to USDA’s measure of lack of access to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members and limited availability of nutritionally adequate foods. The National Average of US households facing food insecurity is 13%. 1 in 5 kids is at risk of going to bed hungry tonight.

Our UCP Charter schools play an important role in helping to reduce this number. For many of our kids, school meals may be the only meals they eat each day. What happens when students go home over the weekend, or for a week-long school break?

  Other Ways to Contribute

 Volunteers

In order to prepare, package and distribute food bags weekly across 8-campus locations, we need your help! We are looking for organized, friendly, helpful individuals who can give a few hours once a month or ever week, to help make sure that each child in need receives a bag a food. All 8-campuses are seeking volunteers, as many hands make light work! Inquire for more details.

 Give the Gift of Food

As funds are collected, we will partner with other local business and nonprofits to leverage the best possible buying power. However, the donation of food is equally helpful! Do you own a bakery or have access to lots of nonperishables? Let’s talk about ways to make monthly or weekly contributions to supplement our campus pantries.

 Additional Cash Contributions

Every dollar counts! We are so grateful for each investment opportunity and would love to discuss ways to partner and recognize other cash gifts.
