UCP of Central Florida Offers the World with its 23rd Annual Gala & Poker Tournament
Orlando, Fla. (Feb 10, 2016) – UCP of Central Florida celebrates its 23rd annual An Evening at the Palace Gala, presented by Republic Nation Distributing Company, on March 12, at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa. The yearly fundraiser generates funds which strongly impact UCP’s support, education and therapy programs for children with and without disabilities.

“Every year our Gala keeps getting better,” says Dr. Ilene Wilkins, CEO and President, UCP of Central Florida. “And while it has been quite a journey over the past 23 years, thanks to the generosity and commitment of our supporters, we’ve been able to make a tremendous impact on the lives of our children and their families.”

This year’s Gala features a world-travel theme as Cheryl Hines (Emmy nominated actress from Curb Your Enthusiasm and RV) and Rachael Harris (Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Hangover) co-host the evening’s journey – with delectable dining, world-class entertainment created in partnership with Walt Disney World and a tour of UCP’s silent auction bazaar. The evening will begin with a VIP reception, followed by a silent auction which will feature over $109,000 of items to bid on.

During the Gala Jay Klima, of Klima Weeks Civil Engineering, Inc., will be awarded with the Jack Holloway Star of Gratitude, and Dr. Rebecca Hines, a professor at the University of Central Florida, will receive the Jackie Bailes Legacy Award.

Festivities will begin on Friday evening, March 11, with Poker at the Palace, a Texas Hold ’Em tournament hosted by Hines and other local celebrities going ‘all-in’ to support UCP’s mission and offers a special outdoor Scotch and cigar bar. Proceeds from Poker at the Palace and An Evening at the Palace benefit support, education and therapy programs serving over 3,000 children and families annually at UCP.

UCP of Central Florida raises over $200,000 at annual Faces Behind the Miracles Breakfast!

We are excited to announce that this year’s Faces Behind the Miracles Breakfast generated more than $200,000 in one time gifts and multi-year pledges!  Thanks to the support of many of our friends, UCP will have the ability to provide our students the opportunity to grow to their fullest potential.

A special thank you goes out to all who joined us in learning more about UCP’s mission and children that we serve. We especially would like to thank our Presenting Sponsors, Dr. & Mrs. N. Donald Diebel, who underwrote the event to allow more of the funds raised to go directly to UCP’s programs and services. In addition, we thank our amazing co-hosts – the Orlando Sentinel’s Scott Maxwell and UCP Holloway student Alanni.
