Summer Programs
During the summer, it is important that children enjoy time with family and friends, but it is equally important they continue working toward their educational goals. This summer, UCP of Central Florida will be offering a variety of programs for children of all ages and abilites. Each of these programs include learning opportunities and a chance to make many new friends through an assortment of exciting activities.
Summer Programs for Younger Children
Summer VPK- A free kindergarten readiness program for
eligible children entering kindergarten in August. The program runs from
June 11 - August 7, 2009. Classes have a maximum of 10 children and most practice
an “inclusive” model where children
with and without disabilities learn and play together.
Each class is taught by a certified teacher and a teacher assistant.
Before and after care is available for $35 per week, and physical,
speech and
occupational therapy is available (Medicaid, Insurance and Private
Pay).

The Summer Enrichment Program- A program designed for
children between the ages of two and five both with and without disabilities.
This
program
runs
from June 8 - August 19, 2009and includes Arts and Crafts, water
days, music, as well as gross and fine motor development activities.
The cost is $75 - $150 per week (depending on age and length of day selected) with a $40 registration fee. In addition, before and after care is available, and physical,
speech and
occupational therapy is also available (Medicaid, Insurance and Private
Pay).

Summer Programs for Older Children:
Shakespeare with Heart - Professional Shakespeare actors and directors lead this unique, exciting performance ensemble for Middle School and High School teens with and without disabilities. This two week acting camp culminates in a workshop presentation of a Shakespearean play. The camp runs from July 13-July 24, 2009 at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater. UCP Excellent Summer Adventure – A summer enrichment
program for children and teens ages 8- 21 with disabilities. The program
takes place at the
Loch Haven Park Neighborhood Center (near the Science Center) from June 8 - August 19, 2009. The cost is $40 per
week for City of Orlando residents and $50 a week for non-city residents. The program includes arts and crafts, games, field trips and sports.
To be eligible for this program, children must be able to toilet and
feed themselves, be able to participate in a group setting and be non-aggressive.
Enrollment will take place on April 4, 2009 at the Loch Haven Park Neighborhood Center. A limited number of slots are availble. Please download, fill out and bring the enrollment application with you to the enrollment session. Deadline for payment is May 26, 2009.. For more information, contact
