Behavior Specialist
Position Summary:
UCP of Central Florida is seeking an experienced behavior specialist to provide support to our PreK – 2nd Grade classrooms at our four orange county campuses.
The successful candidate must believe all children can learn and have the ability to assess and modify behavior issues, facilitate team meetings, and have knowledge of behavior management techniques and community services. They should also have strong written and oral communication skills.
This position will officially be an employee of Orange County Public Schools, but will be formally assigned to work with UCP Orange County Charter Schools.
Core Responsibilities
- Assists teachers and acts as classroom facilitator to assess best learning practices for teacher use in the classroom.
- Observes and assesses teacher/student needs to promote a productive learning environment.
- Determines the appropriate methods and techniques to use in resolving student behavior issues.
- Monitors functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention programs.
- Conducts one on one social skill lessons with ESE students.
- Maintains contact with teachers, administration and families through teacher/parent conferences and IEP team meetings.
Requirements
- Florida Teacher Certification – Meet Highly Qualified Standards in Elementary Education and/or ESE for Special Ed. candidates
- Masters in Exceptional Student Education from an accredited college or university.
- Training in behavior management, behavior intervention plans and first aid.
- Prefer experience integrating children with disabilities into the regular classroom and working as a member of a co-teaching team.
Salary/Benefits follow the OCPS teacher salary scale (based on education/experience). |
